1972年大阪生まれ、広島県出身。1993年に渡米。2ヶ月かけて、アメリカをバスで一周しながら、バスや行く先で出会った人々と交流し、人生経験を深める。1998年にカリフォルニア州立大学 ロングビーチ校 映画/電子芸術学科卒業。ロサンゼルスで劇映画やCM・PV制作の現場で働く。2001年に帰国。以後、様々な職を経ながら、脚本を書き、短編映画を監督する。

監督作の短編映画「鰤の大晦日」が国内外の映画祭で上映される。最新作「とうちゃん」が第27回長岡インディーズムービーコンペテションでグランプリ受賞 （2025）、第19回札幌国際短編映画祭のジャパン・プレミア部門に（2024）選出された、今年は第4回彩の国市民映画祭2026に選出され、3月7日に上映予定となっている。東京を拠点に「とうちゃん」の配給、次回作の製作に向け活動中。

Takeshi Nishiyasu

Born in Osaka in 1972.  Grew up in Hiroshima, Japan. He moved to the U.S. in 1993 and spent two months traveling around the U.S. by bus, having conversation with people he met on the bus and everywhere he went, and he has deepened his life experience.  Graduated from California State University, Long Beach. Film: Film and Electronic Arts in 1998.  Returned to Japan in 2001.  Since then, he has written and directed short films while experiencing various jobs.

His short film “Year-End Buri” has been screened at film festivals in Japan and abroad.  His latest film “Tōchan” was selected for the Japan Premiere section of the 19th Sapporo International Short Film Festival (2024) and wins Grand prix at 27th Nagaoka Indies Movie Competition (2025). Based in Tokyo, he is currently working on the theater release of “Tōchan” and the production of his next film.
